There are some things that simply taste better when they’re homemade, and mayonnaise is definitely one of them. If you have backyard chickens, chances are you’ve found yourself looking for creative ways to use up all those beautiful farm-fresh eggs. This easy homemade mayonnaise recipe is one of our favorite ways to put them to good use.
Store-bought mayonnaise is convenient, but once you’ve tasted rich, creamy homemade mayo made with fresh eggs, it’s hard to go back. Not only does it taste fresher, but you also control exactly what goes into it. Yay for no mystery ingredients!
This simple recipe comes together in just a few minutes using an immersion blender or a regular blender. We love using it for sandwiches, potato salad, pasta salad, deviled eggs, and homemade dressings.
Why Make Homemade Mayonnaise?
Making your own mayonnaise offers several benefits:
- Uses fresh eggs from your backyard flock
- Contains simple, recognizable ingredients
- Takes less than 5 minutes to make
- Richer flavor than store-bought mayonnaise
- Easy to customize with herbs and seasonings
- Perfect for homestead and from-scratch cooking
If your chickens are laying faster than your family can keep up, homemade mayonnaise is an excellent way to use a few extra eggs while creating a staple you’ll use all week long.
